Narrative Report of Research Contributions
My research interests include scientific and information visualization, the application of visual perception in visualization, visual analysis of health data, and medical mixed reality. In particular, my research leverages multidimensional data analysis methods and visual perception theories for solving visualization problems and designing visual analysis solutions for health data. Specifically, I studied new visual mappings for parallel coordinates and dimensional reduction methods for multidimensional data, visual-perception-guided visualization and enhancement methods for 2D scalar data, transfer function design and analysis of multivariate 3D volume data, and visual analysis of Chinese medicine data and adverse drug reports. Some of my current research is on medical mixed reality methods for anatomical and surgical training. I work closely with clinical physicians and medical researchers to address healthcare challenges by combining the expertise of humans and computers in the form of interactive visualization and automated data analysis.
