About Center

National Center for Data Science of Diabetic Retinopathy will constantly enrich the database with the purpose of scientific research on the national diabetic retinopathy (DR) multi-center and diabetic complications. It focuses on the basic construction of database, consolidates the application foundation of big data in retinopathy, standardizes and promotes the integration and sharing of medical big data in eye health, and establishes Chinese eye health standards so as to promote the integrated development of industry, education and research, serve for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, establish the big data of longitudinal cohort, reform the future health management service mode, and make contributions to the demonstration of the efficacy of drugs and clinical surgery in the treatment of retinopathy.


Our Research

1. Actively respond to the major situation of research and application in the national big data in health and medicine. To establish the multi-source health and medical big data, promote the international interaction and cooperation. By using the international cutting-edge data processing and analyzing technology, we can provide big data-driven decision support for national health and medical strategies, medical practices and health management of the whole population, promote the continuous maturity and improvement of artificial intelligence diagnosis, upgrade the screening technology for diabetic retinopathy, and improve the assessment and diagnosis ability of diabetic retinopathy.

2. To make up the epidemiological indicators and standard database of Chinese retinopathy, and to master the national diabetic retinopathy data by connecting the fundus screening results of medical and health institutions at all levels with the big data center, so as to provide empirical data for the prevention and treatment strategies in national eye health

3. To comply with the national Internet & health care, the technological development of artificial intelligence research. Relying on the influence of the national center for big data and industry code, we aim to train industry leaders, promote the transformation in industry and science and technology, promote the changes in the medical, pharmaceutical, service industry and other aspects based on the retinal screening technology. We will build a world-class, domestic leading and an integrated health care data platform in industry, education and research.


Our People

Through the SG-DR platform by Shanggong Medical Technology Co., LTD., “Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Project in China”, undertaken by the Chinese Society of Microcirculation (CSM)-Committee on diabetes and microcirculation, has collected more than 1 million cases of DR data sets in 527 hospitals across the country, 28 provinces and cities and 14 demonstration centers, which has some work foundation. At the same time, “Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Project in China” has carried out the construction of the diabetic complications screening workstation in basic hospitals in Jiangsu province, which will enrich the sample database as well. Under the guidance of relevant laws and standard provisions, we will continue to expand and strengthen the project and establish a national database of DR.

Mr. Sun zilin: Consultant of endocrinology,Vice President of the medical college of Southeast University, director of the diabetes research institute of Southeast University. Member of Chinese diabetes association, deputy leader of education and management group of Chinese diabetes association, standing director and deputy secretary of Chinese Society of Microcirculation (CSM), chairman of CSM-Committee on diabetes and microcirculation.

Mr. Wang ningli: Consultant of ophthalmology, director of Beijing Tongren hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, director of Beijing institute of ophthalmology. Former Chairman of ophthalmology branch of Chinese medical association, member of the international academy of ophthalmology, executive director of the federation of the world glaucoma society, executive director of the international ophthalmology society, and vice president of the Asia Pacific ophthalmology society.

Mr. Guo haijian: Primary medical care and policy adviser, deputy director of basic public-health service technical guidance center of Jiangsu province. Responsible for the plan, guidance, supervision and evaluation of health education, member of primary diabetic expert group in primary health branch of national health care exchange promotion center of China.

Mrs. Liu xiao: Assistant to the dean, majoring in clinical medicine, responsible for construction of the platform workstation and data collection of information center.

Mr. Kang hong: Consulor of computer and AI intelligent science, PhD in Nankai University, proficient in big data processing and analysis, machine learning. Responsible for the optimization and improvement of the sample database, providing technical guidance for the platform workstation and data collection.


Current award information

In March 2018, in the IDRiD fundus image analysis competition held by the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), we got the first place in optic disc segmentation, the third place in optic disc recognition, and the fourth place in macular recognition.

In July 2019, in the CCF-GAIR·2019 global summit on artificial intelligence and robotics, we won the award of "Best growth list of 2019 AI: Best commercial growth of AI+ healthcare" issued by Leifeng.


Leadership and Management


Mr. Sun zilin is the core leader of the team, professor, chief physician, doctoral supervisor, leading medical talent of Jiangsu province. His research interests includethe pathogenesis and intervention strategies of chronic diabetic complications, the cellular and molecular mechanisms of diabetic islet dysfunction and islet fibrosis, and diabetes screening, education and management models. Shanggong Medical Technology Co., LTD., as the right-hand man of team scientific research industrialization, has not only achieved great development, but also developed and learned better technology by relying on its own artificial intelligence reading system. It has been becoming the creator of the most advanced artificial intelligence medical fundus image recognition technology in the world.
