About CHPTE

The primary goal of the center is to become a domestic first-class think tank in the field of health policy, and to fully serve the scientific decision-making of the party and the government. The second is to carry out health economic assessment, health technical norms, management tools research, development and evaluation, and become the authority of health management technology for governments and health institutions at all levels.

CHPTE will build a resource platform of health policy and technology research that integrates resources such as manpower, capital, and data information inside and outside the University. It will take the full advantage of tremendous multi-discipline comprehensive strength and senior talents in Peking University to set up a domestic exemplary platform of data sharing and research corporation in health policy field. As a small agency, CHPTE has extensive networks with research institutions and governments. CHPTE has three principals: encourage data sharing, promote research cooperation and support evidence-based policy formulation. Its goal is to promote scientific decision-making of health policy and the developments of health policy discipline in China.

Our Research

1. Health Care System Reform and Health Policy Research and Evaluation. The center will serve as a think tank to conduct policy evaluation and give recommendations for stakeholders in the field of healthcare system reform.

2. Health Technology Research and Evaluation. The research interest contains two aspects: health economics evaluation, and the development and evaluation of management tools for health technology standard.

3. Telemedicine and Telehealth. The research interest contains four aspects: regulation on telemedicine and telehealth, pricing and payment tools for telemedicine and telehealth services, and the impacts of telemedicine and telehealth on healthcare system.

4. Sharing Platform for Data on Health Policy. On the premise of property right protection, we would establish a sharing platform for data on health policy to encourage data sharing among health economists and health policy experts.


Our People

The center  is a platform built on the basis of two execution agencies: Center for Health Policy and Technology Evaluation at Peking University Health Science Center,  National Institute for Data Science in Health and Medicine of Peking University.

Center for Health Policy and Technology Evaluation at Peking University Health Science Center is established in 2016, a platform built on the basis of two execution agencies:  the Department of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health and  China Center for Health Development Studies of Peking University. The research interest contains four aspects: health policy evaluation, major policy risk evaluation, health economics evaluation, development and evaluation of health technology standard management tools. Now the Department of Health Policy and Management has 16  faculties. China Center for Health Development Studies of Peking University has 8 faculties.

National Institute for Data Science in Health and Medicine of Peking University is established in 2018. It is a is a platform built on the basis of two execution agencies:  Peking University Health Science Center, and  Chinese Health Information and Big Data Association. National Institute for Data Science in Health and Medicine of Peking University is co-chaired by Xiaotao Jin and Qimin Zhan. Xiaotao Jin is the president of Chinese Health Information and Big Data Association and Qimin Zhan is the director of Peking University Health Science Center.
